Good morning label lovers! It's as the sun rises when we must remember how important it is that we make time to give our egos a boost, too. That's right, readers. I'm talking about waking up for a routine earlier than the 30-minute-late-panic-rush. Not everyone wakes up with cartoon birds tying ribbons in their hair, (too early for a Cinderella reference?) but that can be our secret. Here's the recipe to hip-bump the ugly stepsister of a terrible morning into a memory of the past. Being a damsel in distress is no fun.
1. Get Your $#!+ Straight
To have a good day, you have to set your own path to guarantee that you do. If you're over the age of 18, your mom probably doesn't set out your outfits or pack your lunch anymore. (If she does, you're lucky - not judging) No biggie, do it yourself! Check the weather, know your schedule (I keep a planner), give yourself time and options. The morning should be for putting your head on straight, not panicking to make sure you didn't forget it at home.
2. Luv Yo'Self
If you don't feel good in what you have on, let's face it, from the moment you leave you'll be counting the seconds til you're home and in your XXL sweats again. Waking up and putting on something comfortable that compliments whatever mood you're in can make a world of a difference on your experience while you're out. As one of my favorite childhood shows, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide taught me: your outfit can make your mood. Try facing a dreaded Monday in your favorite outfit instead of trying to wipe last night's mascara from your eyes. If you're prepared, you can confidently face whatever (or whomever) your day throws at you without batting an eye. Everyone will believe you totally saw it coming.
Now, get yourself some coffee. I'm sure you've already set an alarm for tomorrow.
