Punk 'n Plaid

Trend Alert:

Grunge Glam

As the snow begins to melt and the sun starts to shine, we can finally tuck away our oversized cardigans to embrace higher hemlines, less slip-resistant/water-resistant boots, and finally transition to springtime styles. As seen on Moschino, Prada, and Christian Dior runways - this year's springtime fashion scene is sizzling with 90's influenced punk looks that inspire the inner non-conforming grunge era style left in all of us. Themes of reds, blacks, mesh, fishnet and stand-out leopard prints graced the fashion forefront for this Spring's trendsetting styles, setting the mood for the new season a bit darker than usual. I like it.

Excited? Me too.

Integrating these flashback fashion influences is the chance for all of us 90's babies to finally dress up in the daring Bratz doll style that influenced my personal pairing jeans under dresses and other tacky-chic trends of the early 2000's. Taking those in-your-face bold looks and pairing them with this spring's hottest trends comes together in the look I put together especially for you fashionista rebels who can't deny a good fishnet-and-combat-boot combo. Since logos have been a big trend on the runways of this season, I started my look with a black, red, and silver Gigi Hadid Tommy Tour Tee ($34) and matched it up with a classic spring plaid print skirt ($27). To make this unlikely combo come together, I added in a grunge-esque denim Jacket ($20) with red star sticked embroidery to compliment the graphic logo tee. To finish off this 2018 twist on the punk era style, I included a pair of black suede platform Booties ($45), a retro red Lipstick Crossbody ($37), and a signature pouty red lipstick. Nothing quite says "I totally match.. but I don't care" like indulging in inner teen angst.
