With spring weather sneaking up on us, I figured I would put together a little guide on what pieces you need to stay stylish in the sun AND while youre dancing in the rain. Psst... you're welcome.
5. Maxi Skirt
Maxi skirts are a must! Now that spring is on it's way, it's time to polish those toes and strut in some sandals! If you want your tootsies out on a breezy day, a maxi skirt is the most comfortably chic way to sneak those dogs out in the sun. I'd reccomend at least one solid and a print to pair up with for any occasion. I picked out the timeless Jane Norman solid black side-slit maxi ($30) to pair up with a fitted graphic tee and a cardigan; and the gorgeous floral topshop maxi ($19) that would add springtime flair to a denim jacket with a solid tank underneath. A maxi skirt is the perfect way to feel dressy & feminine in the spontaneous spring weather.
4. sundress
Enough about preparing for disappointing weather! The sun will come out tomorrow, right? Well, maybe not TOMORROW but eventually! But! The day it comes, you have to be prepared to strut your springtime glow in a style! Sundresses are my favorite part about the occasional ideal spring day that comes once or twice a year. All of the sundresses I found embraced the ultra-feminine off-the-shoulder trend I'm currently obsessed with. I loved the super trendy embroidery on the white DISHEE dress ($24) you could wear out effortlessly with a pair of lace up sandals. The lucky green albumip ($14) dress and mango ($44) blue/white striped dress could be worn alone with some comfy flats or even made more casual with a cozy cardigan. Don't be stuck sweating in your rainboots when those sunny days funally come!
3. denim jacket
Denim jackets are the perfect way to add some texture (and warmth) to any type of look. From dressing-down sundresses to dressing-up hoodies, I'm pretty convinced a denim jacket solves just about any springtime tempature catastrophe. The dark, distressed WithChic jacket ($30) is perfect for versatility; as is the light h&m ($40) for those who prefer a little less "punk". I had to throw in the embroidered SheInsider jacket because I love the vintage rose trend - and it could easily spice up a solid black dress with black gladiator sandals. If you don't have the cash to splurge on one yet, ask your mom if she still has hers! The more vintage, the better!
2.
hooded windbreakeR
This one seems obvious, but springtime is so much easier when you've got a good, rain-resistant windbreaker on your side. I loved this solid raspberry NewChic ($24) as the finising touch of vibrant warmth to any spring ensemble. I couldn't resist throwing in this super fun h&m tropical print hooded windbreaker to remind you of better, sunnier days while you're sprinting through the mud and rain puddles to class.
1. Rain Boot
Lastly, my personal childhood favorite: rainboots. These boots have made dramatic changes in style since the 90's when I was sporting them. If you don't own a pair, get a pair quick. These fun and fashionable shoes can add a pop of flair to a boring rainy day outfit, or finish off a cute cloudy look with functionality. These boots are functional and fun for under $50! The totally in-trend Jeffery Starr ($27) cheetah booties are perfect to finish off a more put-together look on a day you know may be a little damp! For a more casual day, the berrry shoelace-tied Croc ($45) rainboots are comfy and are will add a little brighness to what you know is bound to be a rainy day. I added the Western Chief ($50) tall rainies because the floral print could easily dress up a casual solid tee-shirt dress and leggings.
Think outside the box! And don't even question if you can still look cute in the upcoming spring showers.
