Makeup Match-Up

In ancient times, warriors painted their faces to show dominance and strength before battle. Here in 2017, we ladies are still preparing to slay in a very similar fashion to those fearless trendsetters before us. The only difference is that now we "paint" (I prefer the terminology "beat") our faces to accent certain features rather than scare the next person with less face-paint than you. I was inspired to write this post by my most recent splurge, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette ($42) at Ulta over the weekend. Along with a few fundamental matte and shimmer shades of SUPER pigmented shadows, it also features a beautiful array of oranges, reds, and berry tones. This gorgeously bold palette reminded me about one of my favorite aspects of fashion: the icing to the cupcake, makeup. Whether it be the perfect way to pull together a popping color or to add some drama to a simple ensemble, makeup is always the finishing touch to any fashionista’s favorite get-up. I paired the Venetian Red/Warm Taupe Modern Renaissance shadow shade combo with a burgundy-with-white polka-dot Michael Kors mini dress with a gold chain belt accent and nude ALDO thigh high boots. Finishing off a look with the perfect subtlety of a complimentary shadow shade makes any modern day woman warrior feel as if she can conquer the world. Or, at least her day!

Still need some style assistance?

I put together this springtime ensemble inspired by the Modern Renaissance pallette I mentioned earlier. To compliment the matte Burnt Orange, shimmery Primavera and matte Realgar shades, I chose this super adorable long sleeve off-the-shoulder dress ($18) by boohoo. To incorperate spring vibes I added some classic ALDO nude-and-corkboard sandals ($45) and a structured straw wrap fedora with a white scarf accent from GAP. ($30) I figured the best way to pull the orange sun-kissed bronze look off would to be with a dainty gold necklace to compliment the off-the-shoulder cut of the dress. In this, it's impossible not to feel like a bronzed ray of sunshine.
