I know the latest choker trend has us ladies choking for more. The tiny fitted necklaces have taken fashion looks by storm again for a reprise from the 90's. This trend is one from a time way before even our oldest fashion mags gush. The choker look was originated many runways ago by Alexandra, Princess of Wales in the 1800's. The ones she wore were nearly identical in style to some of the blingy choker necklaces we see worn today, and like now, her look inspired many. The reasoning behind the trendy neck-wear wasn't completely couture, however, because the fair Princess of Wales used hers as a cover-up for a huge (and apparently terrifyingly ugly) scar on her neck. Funny how this chic and dainty trend makes us feel like royalty; yet it was originated by a royal who wanted to look more "normal". What is even more interesting is that her inspiration for choker necklaces stemmed from her adoration of the lavish jeweling that women in India wore on their necks. She made the look her own with similar fitting necklaces made of velvet and pearls, stacked one on top of the other for a gaudy, blinged-out look that although has toned-down in excessiveness, has been a secret in fashion's little black book every few decades ever since.

I chose a more subtle choker combo ($16) from Miss Selfridge to compliment my off-the-shoulder peasant sleeved floral blouse from Rosegal
($19). To offset the flowy shirt, I paired it with a New Look ($34) straight light-washed denim skirt and a girly pair of Jennifer Lopez lace-up nude flats. ($40) To pull the look together I finished it off with a vegan olive green tote from Fashion Conscience that compliments the earth tones in the floral print blouse.
