Balenciaga recently created the ultimate face-palm for us fashion folks. Here on the bottom left is the new blue Balenciaga arena extra-large shopper tote, with a hefty price tag at $2,145. The carry-all bag features double printed calfskin handles and includes a super handy keyring inside. With that being said, you may have noticed the bag to the right below shares impeccable similarities to the new Balenciaga beauty. But, you won't find this bad boy in a designer store! The right bag, eerily similar to the left, is $.99 from Ikea and made of 100% polypropylene plastic. The Swedish furniture brand is ecstatic about the designer replica, telling Today USA: “We are deeply flattered that the Balenciaga tote bag resembles the Ikea iconic sustainable blue bag for 99 cents. Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag!” Who knew picking up a flat-pack bin at Ikea could have us feeling so glamorous? While the designer bag is made at a slightly better quality and topped off with the signature gold Balenciaga stamped logo, our undoubted suspicion that this new look stems from a furniture shopping bag seems to have been confirmed. Oh, Fashion, you are crazy... but we just can't quit you.
